Following a beta phase that made it possible to gather user feedback and fine-tune its operation, b.suite is now available in version 1.0. This first final release marks the official launch of the new eurobraille software, designed to succeed esysuite.
Developed as a natural continuation of esysuite, b.suite retains its main strengths while offering a simpler, clearer experience that better reflects users’ needs and feedback. The goal remains the same: to provide a powerful braille working environment while making everyday use easier and more intuitive.
An experience closer to paper braille
With b.suite, eurobraille set out to provide a more intuitive and natural approach to working with braille. The software retains the essential features that made esysuite successful, including scientific braille and music braille transcription, while improving usability and expanding its capabilities.
The environment has been redesigned to make it easier for users to find the various tools and work within a clearer, more consistent interface.
Braille tables for different languages
One of the major improvements in b.suite concerns language management. The software now includes braille tables for different languages, allowing transcription to be adapted to the user’s working language.
Users can therefore work in uncontracted braille, computer braille or contracted braille, using the table corresponding to the selected language.
This development enables b.suite to better meet the needs of users working in several languages or using different braille conventions.
A redesigned interface for sighted assistants
The interface intended for sighted assistants has also undergone significant improvements.
The presentation of information and features has been redesigned to make the environment clearer, easier to read and easier to understand, particularly for teachers, support staff, professionals or family members who use the software alongside a braille user.
Transcription display has also been improved. Several mathematical formulas can now be viewed at the same time, making it easier to check and follow scientific content.
The font size used in the interface can also be adjusted, allowing the display to be adapted to each user’s preferences and needs.
More generally, the organisation of commands and information has been revised to make the software easier to learn and to help users find the various available functions more quickly.
Direct access to the Éole library
b.suite 1.0 also includes direct access to the Éole library.
Users with the required access rights can search for and download books directly from their working environment, in the different formats available from the library, including DAISY, BRF and TXT, depending on the title.
This integration simplifies access to adapted books and reduces the number of steps required to download and use them.
Already using esysuite? No additional licence is required
Users who already have an esysuite licence can switch to b.suite very easily.
Simply install b.suite: no additional licence is required.
Version 1.0 is now the official release of b.suite and will serve as the foundation for future updates and developments of the software.
With b.suite, eurobraille continues to develop a comprehensive braille working environment, retaining the essential features of esysuite while offering a modernised interface, improved multilingual braille support and new possibilities for both braille users and their sighted assistants.
